The objective of Turn-About Ranch is to provide today's troubled teens
with a tough, hard-hitting, high-impact program that will remold and turn
about the lives of a confused and rebellious teenager. The program
objectives are facilitated through the environment of an historic, real
life cow-calf ranch, utilizing old-time values and morals such as honesty,
respect, teamwork and accountability. No smoking, drinking, tobacco,
drugs, sex or swearing is allowed. Traditional standards and cliches are
not only taught but practiced:
Early to bed, early to rise; Work hard together, play hard together; A
man is only as good as his word, and so on.
Turn-About Ranch has a unique behavior modification program which promotes
and achieves needed
changes in young people's lives. The key ingredient is the amount of time
and effort
the counselors spend working directly with the troubled youth and the
interaction with parents that the staff has during and after the program.
Counselors are with the youth 24 hours a day, not only as
a teacher, but as a parent and a friend. Every bad attitude and
manipulative behavior is dealt with directly and immediately. Problems
are dealt with sometimes gently and sometimes through confrontation,
but
always swiftly and fairly. Through this consistent correction and
positive direction, day after day, in a hard-working, real-life, down to
earth ranch environment, the seed of life being "turned-about" begins to
emerge.
The program mission is to empower our students with traditional
Christian
values of honesty, openness, respect, teamwork, and accountability; in
order to instill a positive, responsible, cooperative attitude to prepare
them for successfully living within their family, community,
and society.
Note:
Turn-About Ranch is a short-term, high-impact therapy program that
emphasizes family values and relationships. We take boys and girls from
12 to 18 years of age, 60 days is the minimum, 90 days is the average,
and it is open-ended to allow counselors & parents to decide when the
teenagers are ready to come home. We are located in southern Utah
canyonlands country and operate year-round in a dry, mild climate.
Admission can be any day of the week, any time of the year. School
credits are available and we also deal with substance and chemical
abuse.
