Turn-About Ranch is a high-impact, Christian based,
non-denominational program, designed to remold the values and turn-around
the lives of confused, rebellious teenagers. Set in a real life, working
Western ranch, Turn-About concentrates on developing honesty,
self-respect, responsibility and a strong work ethic.
To achieve long-term lasting value and behavioral changes, Turn-About
Ranch utilizes a unique three component approach, of which all three
elements are of equal importance and work within an integrated system to
complement each other. We call this approach the Turn-About Ranch
Triangular Approach.
Each element of this philosophy is dependent upon the other two for
feedback and reinforcement. As a student interacts with staff and
environment, any significant experience can be processed almost
immediately by the counselors present. This allows the student to
recognize and identify their own behavior patterns--both present and
past--and how these patterns effect the here and now, and their life in
the future.
Structured individual counseling sessions are set for 2-3 times weekly
with each student and their assigned counselor. Group counseling sessions
consist of a minimum of 3 per week and may be as many as 7. With the
combination of professional counseling, role modeling and providing a
traditional environment in which the students may once again get in touch
with themselves, Turn-About Ranch has proven to be a highly successful
treatment alternative for youth.
The Turn-About Ranch program is divided into four distinct levels over a minimum of 60 days. To achieve the best results possible, each student's program is individualized to fit their specific needs, with discharge dates centered around the progress determined by parents and counselors. Each level is earned by the student, depending on their individual program goals. As levels are earned, increased responsibility and freedoms are given. All actions, attitudes and behaviors can result in upward or downward movement in levels.
Designed to take the rebellious, selfish, defiant or unmotivated youth
and strip them of their old defenses, attitudes, and facades. Very
structured, routine, and supervised. No freedoms or free time. This
establishes a foundation of discipline, respect, and orderliness.
Responsibility and leadership skills emphasized. New goals, behaviors and
attitudes are established and tested. A "solo" experience (closely
monitored by staff) is included to allow time for self-reflection of past
present, and future.
